Presentations and Retreats

I love helping groups or congregations engage in discussion, activity, and reflection on a variety of topics.  A retreat, workshop, or presentation can ignite imagination, empower action, or transform understanding.

Core Values/Transition Retreats

This interactive retreat results in the beginnings of articulating core values and priorities that assist congregations in visioning and discerning their identity and direction.  The retreat will involve small and large group discussion, personal and communal reflection, prayer and Bible study, as congregations seek God’s will and strive to be open to the Spirit in their context.

Feedback I’ve received was all positive.  Some of the folks were amazed at how far we got in defining our core values.

-Pr. Bob Lutz, Interim Pastor, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Ft. Walton Beach

We have had a number of visioning events here… over the past few years, but I felt that yours was conceptualized and organized in ways that exceeded all the others I’ve attended.

-Alan Schweer, council president, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Gainesville

Bible Study Presentations

A Bible study presentation will take a group through a specific text of scripture in a historical, theological and biblical context, while making relevant connections to modern life and faith. These could include a focus on women of faith or some other theme.

Discipleship Workshops

These retreats cover a variety of topics related to faith formation and discipleship, including fostering an inter-generational environment of faith formation; discipleship overview; spiritual discernment and formation; mission, etc.

[Sr. Michelle] did a super job at relating it back to God in Christ.

Ministry Themes Workshops

A retreat or workshop can be built around specific contextual needs of the congregation, and could include strategic planning for ministry; evaluating and assessing ministry for the purpose of revitalization and growth; planning for faith formation beyond Sunday School and Youth Group; intergenerational faith formation; identifying strengths and strengthening leadership; etc.

Many arrived feeling dejected and concerned for our future. They left hopeful and focused knowing that the chaos is not as intimidating as we imagined and with a good starting point for discerning and listening for God’s future.

-Rev. Erik Parker, Sherwood park Lutheran Church, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Your positive focus on mission and vision going forward was an inspiration to all who came. I especially enjoyed the way you encouraged the small & large group to identify our gifts and strengths… and then, challenged us to apply them to what we have to offer to the world around us.
